Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha posted a condolence message on his Facebook page on Saturday (April 25) on the death of Boonsong Manaowan, 72, a village health volunteer from the Dermbang Nangbuat district of Suphan Buri province.

“I would like to express my deepest condolences to the family of Boonsong, who has been a village health volunteer for more than 34 years. We lost a good man who sacrificed the people and local communities. He deserves the highest honour and our deepest gratitude,” said Prayut.

Boonsong lost his life in a road accident on Wednesday (April 22) while he was riding a motorcycle to distribute face masks and hand sanitisers to people in remote areas.

“The government will make sure to provide his family with suitable benefits as per what is prescribed for officials killed in the line of duty. Boonsong is one of millions of health volunteers nationwide who are responsible for improving the Covid-19 situation in Thailand in the past months,” he added.
