Two Americans afraid to go back home, want to remain in Thailand

News

Two American tourists have asked that they are allowed to stay in Thailand as they are afraid of the Covid-19 situation in the United States, which has become more serious.

They have been quarantined at the Kanchanaphishek Institute of Medical and Public Health Technology in Bangkok for 14 days after arriving in Thailand.

However, they said they wished to remain under Thai quarantine until the crisis in the country eases.

They expressed gratitude toward Thai medical personnel who, they said, took care of them very well.

No inbound flights till May 31

The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) has extended its restriction on incoming flights until May 31.

CAAT director-general Chula Sukmanop announced on Monday (April 27) that all passenger flights will be banned from landing in Thai airports from May 1 to 31.

However, state or military aircraft, emergency landings, technical landings, humanitarian and relief flights and cargo aircraft will be exempted.

CAAT added that all passenger planes will come under CDC supervision once the restrictions are lifted.

This is the fourth time a temporary restriction has been placed on flights to prevent Covid-19 spread.
